DISPARTIY BETWEEN PENURY AND POVERTY

Penury is derived from the Latin penuria, which means "want, need." Penury is a state of poverty characterized by wants and needs. It is a state of extreme poverty or destitution

Poverty is the state of being poor, lacking money and necessaries of life. Lacking essential qualities.

From my understanding, the disparity between penury and poverty can be seen in its meaning. Penury Perpetuates Poverty in all ramifications. Penury is EXTREME poverty. Penury is the man who lives under the bridge in Ikeja due to his extreme poverty/lack and inability to even rent a house. Poverty is the woman who sits under a small shed in Ojota selling petty goods and making less than one dollar per day.

In Nigeria,
disparities between rich and poor have risen sharply. There are the extremely rich, who are getting richer and the extremely poor who are getting poorer!

There are different factors that can lead a nation to penury- such as War, natural disaster, etc. For example, War brings nothing but a situation where people live from hand to mouth.

A living full of wretchedness and total lack of amenities for a standard living is the beginning of penury... one thousand proof of what penury and poverty has caused in the life of people all over the world into committing themselves to unprintable activities.
